Bump or lump on the eye lid.

You must have seen someone has a lump or bump on their eyelids or perhaps you experienced it at some point and you wondered what happened?
Here is why? When there is a lump on the eyelid, it could be as a result of the following:
•Chalazion – Occurs when glands in the eyelids are blocked. It is usually painless however as it grows, the eyelid may get red, swollen, and sometimes tender to touch.
•Styes – occur when bacteria get into the oil glands in the eyelids and it becomes infected and inflamed. it is usually a small, red, painful lump and can be located outside or under the eyelid.
•Xanthelasma – yellow bumps that occur when certain fats build up under the skin, it is usually painless and these bumps tend to appear in older adults. In some cases, they indicate high cholesterol levels.
Keeping in mind that most of the eyelid lumps or bumps you may experience tends to resolve within 3 to 5 days, it is advisable you visit the eye clinic for a comprehensive examination of your eyes when you experience lumps in the eyelids.
