As we all grow in life, a time will come when we will need two glasses to enjoy good vision, one to see distant objects and the other to read small prints.

There are various types of lenses used to correct presbyopia but the most effective one is the Progressive Additional Lenses (PAL)

A Progressive Additional Lens, popularly known as Varifocal or Varilux lens, is a type of multi focal lens with 3 zones ( distance, intermediate and near) with increasing powers from distant portion to near.

It is the best choice for people that require different powers to see distant objects, work on their computer and read near prints at the same time.

However, PAL require professional fitting. It becomes difficult to use and not enjoyable by patients when there are no proper eye assessment and perfect alignment of the PAL fitting cross to patient’s pupillary distance.

To avoid this discomfort, always ensure you consult a professional optometrist in a standard eye clinic.
